PTA News of the Week Sept. 28, 2015

Hello Jordan Families!

We have made it to the first week of fall.  Time to break out the sweaters, put on a fire, and snuggle up to a good book with a pumpkin spiced latte...not! I think the only thing you can do now is grab that book and make that latte iced! While we are still experiencing a bit of the heat, it's nice to pretend every now and then that we actually get our fall season on time, right? As usual, this week was busy, but successful. Please see the important information below for this week:

Fundraising:
  • Fall Fundraiser: Updated numbers show our new grand total for our school is $15,400.00! Thank you all for turning your packets in so they could be counted. That is an amazing start to the school year!  Much thanks to our VP of Fundraising, Liz Pando for organizing this event.
  • Stoves on Strike/Shakey's: Congratulations Jordan Jaguars! We did it! We beat our goal of raising more than $333.  We raised a total of $500 from Shakey’s this week!!! Thank you to all the families who participated.  We even had a special drawing for those who participated. Mrs. Wissman randomly selected the following students from the raffle.  Congratulations to the following students who won prizes: Santiago-Hernandez, Evan-Bohen, Nathan-Fonti, Kade-Desmond, Raymond-Felton, Marvin-Cooke, Baylie-Lauprecht, Natalie-Sachs, Jasmine-Lauprecht, Robert-Malm, Kaylee-Sachs.

See you at our next S.O.S at Mc Donald’s next month on October 28th!

If you are like me, I sometimes loathe the question “what’s for dinner”. I am not sure if any of you have tried any online meal planners. There are several out there! I have put a sample of one that is free and one that charges a fee.  They work wonders and help to answer that question!  They are a great way to make dinners a family occasion, shop purposefully, and to engage our students in food preparations. Many of them offer 30 min meals which are even better as we manage our after school activities and work schedules.

Check them out! If you have an idea you’d like to share with me so I can share with our Jordan Community of things you’ve done to help save time, money, or how you manage your schedule, email them to me and I would love to share it!

Collaboration is a very powerful tool and sharing information will bring us closer as a community as we venture through this time with our Jordan students.

Have a great week everyone!
